CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – An Agusan del Sur businesswoman was nabbed in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13), the top police official in the region said on Wednesday.

PRO 13 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr. identified the suspect as Marilyn Tatsukami Maquiling, 34, businesswoman and a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Jaliobong, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte province.

Esquivel said DEU elements of Agusan del Norte Provincial Intelligence Branch Police Provincial Office (PPO) and Cabadbaran City Police Station (CCPS) in coordination with the 13th Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (13th PDEA) conducted the buy bust operation around 2:40 p.m. on Monday in Purok 4, Barangay Mabini, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte, that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

Confiscated during the operation was the P1,000-peso as buy-bust money, a sachet of shabu (buy bust item), and nine large sachets of shabu weighing two grams with a Dangerous Drug Board value of P23,000.00, and other personal belongings.

The suspect is now at the CCPS headquarters in Cabadbaran City for further tactical investigation and documentation in preparation for filing of charges in court, Brig. Gen. Esquivel said.

“Our efforts against illegal drugs are persistent and more intensified to bring drug personalities behind bars of justice,” he said.

“With the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies and active support of the community, someday we will find ourselves victorious as we see our people living in drug-free and safer community,” Esquivel added.
