1 dead, 2 hurt in QC fire

One person died while two others were injured in a fire that razed a residential area along Maria Clara Street, Barangay Santo Domingo in Quezon City Sunday afternoon.

The Quezon City Bureau of Fire Protection said about 180,000 people were rendered homeless in the fire that reached fifth alarm at about 6:13 p.m.

Fire investigators put the estimated worth of damages at P750,000.

The blaze reached first alarm at 5:33 p.m. and quickly escalated to third alarm at 5:41 p.m.

After reaching fifth alarm, it went on for about two hours before it was declared under control by fire fighters.

The fire was put out at about 9:30 p.m.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
