60 houses razed by fire in Davao City

DAVAO CITY – Fire hit a village located along the Bangkerohan River here, injuring one resident and gutting 60 houses Wednesday noon.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Ramil Gillado, Davao City Fire District spokesperson, estimated the damage at P630,000.

Gillado said the fire broke out at around 11 am in Purok 2, Barayco, Barangay 2-A. Based on the initial report of C. Bangoy Fire Station, the fire started in the house of a certain Annie Balaga.

Gillado said the damaged houses were made of light materials.

He said a man known as "alyas Opaw" was also injured after sustaining burns during the incident.

Gillado said the investigators are now conducting probe on the cause of fire.
