TACLOBAN City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced, Monday, January 13, that Wright-Taft road will be passable to all types of vehicles by 12 noon.
This was announced after their clearing operations on the rockslide and landslide that occurred in Barangay Binaloan, Taft, Eastern Samar were substantially completed.
The road was closed after about 15,000 cubic meters of boulders and debris fell on the road during a series of landslides from January 3 to January 7 in the area.
Two passenger vehicles and one utility van were overwhelmed by the landslide, but there was no reported casualty during the incident.
Meanwhile, DPWH added that said road will be automatically closed during heavy rains as a safety precaution.
Motorists are advised to pass with caution and watch for falling rocks and debris as onsite clearing operations are still ongoing.
