The Philippine Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced the suspension of work at CSC offices in affected regions on Monday due to the volcanic ashfall from Taal Volcano’s phreatic eruption.

“Work at the Civil Service Commission Central Office in Batasan Hills, Quezon City and its regional and field offices in the National Capital Region, and affected CSC offices in Regions III and IV is suspended today, 13 January 2020,” said in a Facebook post Monday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has earlier raised the alert status of Taal Volcano in Ba¬tangas from level 3 to 4, with the active volcano’s steam-driven explosion on Sunday afternoon.

The residents within the vicinity of the 14-kilometer radius of the volcano were advised to evacuate due to the “high risk of pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunami.”
