Huawei and HONOR share a lot of research and development, so it’s not a huge surprise that the newly announced HONOR Watch Magic is similar to the Huawei Watch GT
It looks really good with its design and multiple features with a price tag of less P7490.
It has a framework of 316L stainless steel and the tachymeter design was engraved with the use of CNC machining and laser engraving. It is available in r=
This watch has two buttons on the right side, the one at the top is for launching the menu, while the one at the bottom provides quick access to activity monitoring like running, walking, climbing, cycling, swimming, triathlon, and other activities.
It also has other features that include built-in SatNavs (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO) heart rate monitor, sleep monitor, barometer, compāss, weather, stopwatch, timer, alarm, flashlight function, and find my phone.
How to set up?
When setting up the HONOR Watch Magic, you should have the Huawei Health app installed on your phone. But don’t worry, if you’re using a Huawei or HONOR smartphone, the app is already pre-installed. You just need to launch the app, add the HONOR Watch Magic as your device and follow the steps it will display.
However, please note that if you’re using a different Android smartphone, you’ll need to download both Huawei Mobile Services and the Huawei Health app.
Also, I experienced a problem with the Bluetooth connectivity when I tried to connect it with a non-Huawei/HONOR phone. I was unable to pair it properly as it gets disconnected continuously. I was only able to fix it when I updated the firmware to the latest version by using an HONOR device.
As for the Health app, you will be able to enjoy additional features like Huawei TruSleep, Activity reminder, continuous heart rate monitoring, and notifications for apps, calls, and SMS.
For customization, you can enjoy downloading watch faces here, but the selection is limited. This watch faces will change the way the watch displays the time.
You can also update the firmware of the HONOR Watch Magic in this app.
As for the display, it comes with a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen with 390 x 390 resolution or 326ppi, that is also suitable for a screen of this size.
It is evident that the colors are great and have excellent outdoor legibility. After wearing it for several days, I can confirm that it is also comfortable and light. The strap can be adjusted to different wrist sizes and you can replace it easily.
As for the battery, it was stated by HONOR that it can last for up to seven days.
In my experience, a day’s use with almost all of the features activated only consumed 15-20% of the battery. In my estimate, it may last from 5 to 6 days.
The watch comes with a wireless charger that uses a USB Type-C connection.
