The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) on Saturday, January 4, called on authorities to find out who the persons behind the latest attack against another lawyer were.
“Certain and swift accountability is the best deterrence to criminality,” the IBP stressed in a statement.
Meanwhile, the IBP prayed for the quick recovery of lawyer Ray Moncada, 74, who was attacked by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in front of his home in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental last Friday morning.
“IBP is ready to extend assistance to Atty. Moncada and his family and to all those who want justice to be done,” the organization assured.
The IBP expressed condemnation of the attack and hopes for the “the quick identification of his assailants, their resolute prosecution, the timely resolution of the criminal case, and full punishment for the evil-doers.”
“Attacks on lawyers and violence in general mock our justice system,” the IBP stated.
“They erode faith and confidence in the rule of law and in our govetnment,” it added.
