A 20-year-old man was arrested after he broke into his neighbor’s home on New Year’s Day in Muntinlupa City.

The suspect was identified as Nathaniel Tanao-Tanao of Garcip Compound, Purok 1, Cupang, Muntinlupa City. Tanao-Tanao was spotted by the complainant Jerimae Gulmatico Jayona, 26, leading to his arrest.

Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 10 p.m. at Garcip Compound. Police said the suspect entered the victim’s house by climbing onto the terrace and destroying the doorknob, after which he gained entry and went straight for the victim’s belongings.

From Jayona’s store, the suspect took away P1,050 in cash, a vape, four packs of various cigarettes, and a silver necklace.

However, police said that when the suspect was about to escape, he was seen by Jayona who shouted for help. Tanao-Tanao was trapped inside the house as their neighbors surrounded the residence.

Police later arrested the suspect and recovered the stolen items. He was later turned over to the Muntinlupa City Police and will be facing robbery charges.
