Man in motorcycle killed in Shaw Blvd collision with SUV

A male motorcycle rider died in a vehicle collision along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City Sunday morning.

Police said Rhensy Rentosa, 31, of Barangay Bagong Silang, Mandaluyong City sustained serious injuries due to the collision that led to his instantaneous death.

The collision took place at around 6 a.m.

On the other hand, the 33-year-old suspect identified as Mark Oliver Mateo of Tondo, Manila is now under the custody of Mandaluyong City Police.

According to a report from Eastern Police District (EPD), Rentosa was on his motorcycle traveling along Shaw Boulevard in an eastbound direction, coming from Shaw flyover.

Meanwhile, Mateo, who was driving his sports utility vehicle, was crossing of Shaw Boulevard coming from San Miguel Avenue and heading towards Sheridan Street.

Upon reaching the intersection, the front end portion of Rentosa’s motorcycle and the right front portion of Mateo’s SUV accidentally figured in an angle collision, the police report read.

Police said the victim was thrown in the air due to the force of the impact, and landed hard on the pavement.

Photos shared by the EPD showed that the front portion of Rentosa’s motorcycle was crushed and some of its parts, including its headlights, destroyed.

Images also showed damages on the right front portion of Mateo’s vehicle.

3 nabbed, P17,000 in shabu seized in Navotas City buy-bust ops

About P17,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized from three alleged drug personalities in a drug bust at Barangay Tanza 2 in Navotas City Sunday.

Police identified the suspects as Reynan Dela Cruz, 35, fisherman; Arnold Matito, 34, construction worker; and Ma. Rowena Vencer, 38, laundry woman. They are all residents of the said area.

Joint elements of the Navotas City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency led the sting at about 2:15 a.m.

According to a report, the suspects were arrested after they entered into a drug deal with a poseur buyer.

Fifteen sachets of suspected shabu weighing 2.5 grams and worth about P17,000, and P300 in cash were retrieved from the suspects.

The seized pieces of evidence were brought to the Northern Police District Crime Laboratory Office in Caloocan for laboratory examination.

The suspects, who are now under police custody, will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco)
