‘Pay Filipino workers adequately, or I’ll close down Divisoria mall’ – Isko tells Chinese traders

Manila Mayor Francisco Isko Moreno Domagoso has threatened to close a mall in Divisoria if the Chinese businessmen maintaining stores in the establishment will not implement the proper payment of wages to Filipino workers.

“Don’t abuse, pay necessary salary, don’t cheat our fellow Filipino with the standard salary,” Domagoso told the businessmen.

“If you are chaotic in your country, if you are chaos there, do not bring it here,” he said.

The Mayor has also warned businessmen at 168 Mall in Divisoria, particularly those not giving proper wages to their workers.

“Banyaga na kayo nakakapagtinda kayo rito, ayoko aapihin ninyo ang mga Filipino pagdating sa suweldo nila. Don’t do business here if you don’t pay salary. I think it’s not fair,” Domagoso said.

Domagoso said foreign businessmen can freely sell their goods in the nation’s capital once they comply with his orders especially in implementing proper payment of wages to workers.

Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Greco Belgica also conducted an inspection in Divisoria malls to check their business permits.
