DITO on track for telecom commitments

DITO Telecommunity Corp., the country’s third mobile player, vowed to deliver its commitments to deliver world class services to the entire country.

Adel Tamano, DITO chief administrative officer, said that the company is “fully” on track to meet its year-one commitments under its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity granted by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

To date, Tamano said DITO acquired more than 3,000 sites for infrastructure development, and their construction is underway.

“We’ve embraced early on that collaboration, partnership, and building new synergies can ensure delivery of our commitments to the Filipino,” Tamano said.
The telco is also working with over 12,000 consumer retail touchpoints that UDENNA Corp. and its subsidiaries have tapped.

Since October, DITO has entered into several agreements with various tower construction and key contractor companies.

Among them include LCS Group of Chavit Singson, China Energy Equipment Co. Ltd, Filipino-Malaysian Consortium ZEAL Power Construction & Development Corp., Leo Technologies Infrastructure Corp. and Alt-Global-Solutions, Inc.

“Working with our partners guarantees we have the critical pieces in place. The data centers of DITO are very close to completion, fiber resources to link the entire network have been leased from partners like SkyCable, and our very own fiber network is under construction as well,” Tamano said.

Earlier, NTC awarded a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to DITO, formerly known as Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc. (MISLATEL).
The telco is a Filipino consortium that includes Udenna, Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure, and China Telecommunications Corp. as partner.
