An MMDA memorandum released on December 16 indicated that the number coding scheme will be lifted on December 23, 24, 26, 27, and 31, 2019, and on January 2, 2020.
“This is in order to accommodate more passengers during the holiday season in going to the provinces and back,” the MMDA said in a statement.
The memorandum was signed by Roberto Almadin, MMDA's assistant general manager for operations.
According to the MMDA, all enforcement units are restricted from apprehending provincial buses for number coding violations on the said dates.
Number coding for private vehicles will be lifted on December 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, 2019 and January 1, 2020.
