More than P126 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in various parts of Metro Manila in the past two months, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) disclosed on Wednesday.
Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas, NCRPO acting director, said the amount includes that of the 18 kilos of shabu, 33 kilos of marijuana, 70 grams of cocaine and ecstasy.
The period of operations, he said, was from October 16 to December 17.
“There were also several drug personalities arrested in that period that include some high-value targets,” said Sinas.
Metro Manila is considered as one of the hotbeds of illegal drugs operations due to the number of consumers.
While the war on drugs has been aggressive, critics said police should focus on big-time drug pushers and drug lords—an observation that President Duterte supports.
Recently, Duterte declared that the next chief of the Philippine National Police should be willing to kill drug lords.
“We aim to eradicate the proliferation of illegal drugs by strengthening and revitalizing units involved in law enforcement, improving the response time and providing a more reliable forensic investigation of crime incidents while focusing more on high-value target and pushers,” said Sinas.
