5 die, 10 injured in Quezon bus-van collision

Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) provincial director Colonel Audie Madrideo identified one of the victims as Ma. Analoyd Seyosa Po, 24 of Kassel Homes Subd, Brgy Haga, Naga Tacloban City.  The four other fatalities are still unidentified as of press time yesterday.

The injured passengers of CUL Passenger bus were identified as Cyrus Bato Monteser, 29, tattoo artist of Tacloban; Calixtro Maha Villamor, 44, Philippine Army of Catbalogan Samar; Winston Chima Abad, 19, of Koleta Leyte; John Panfilo Tondo, 27, of  Huleta Leyte; Karren Rigo Rosa Diaz, 22 of Burawan, Leyte:  Merlinda Garlet Cujano, 31, of Punturin, Valenzuela City, and, Angie Mikaela Retana Transmonte, 36, of Brgy. San Antonio, Quezon City.

Three other injured passengers - two females and a male – were reported unconscious at the hospital.

Police investigation showed that the van driven by one Sander Soliveres of Camarin, Caloocan City was cruising the northbound lane of Maharlika Highway Saturday when it occupied the opposite lane while negotiating a curve and descending part of the road in Barangay Silangang Malicboy and collided with the CUL Passenger bus driven by Reynaldo Oral Sampilo, 44 of West Fairview, Brgy. Greater Fairview, Quezon City

Police said the injured Soliveres is currently under hospital arrest. (with a report from Aaron B. Recuenco)
