The Valenzuela City government received a fund of more than P5 million from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) which will be used to improve its relocation site project.
In a statement, the local government unit said the P5,575,000 Resettlement Governance Assistance Fund (RGAF) will be used to maintain Disiplina Village Ugong, one of its in-city relocation sites that houses informal settlers, particularly those living in critical areas.
DILG National Capital Region Regional Director Maria Lourdes Agustin, CESO III turned over the check to Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Wednesday.
Officials from the local government and DILG were also present during the turn over.
The RGAF fund, given to cities with resettlement plans for informal settler families, is used to help LGUs in providing facilities and livelihood opportunities to help relocatees adjust to their new environments.
The Valenzuela City government boasts that Disiplina Village Bignay, another one of its relocation sites, is one of the biggest in the country with a land area of 111,293 sqm.
