Bureau of Customs (BOC) operatives and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents intercepted a package containing kush marijuana worth P1.8 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center [CMEC] of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Friday.
Suspect Joseph Marck Tamo was apprehended after he came to claim the package containing the 1.05-kilogram kush.
The package was earlier declared to contain “Marcel Comic child sleeping bag” which was sent from CMEC in California, USA by the sender identified as James Barstow.
Customs district collector Carmelita Talusan said upon inspection, the package yielded vacuum-sealed plastic pouches containing the high-grade marijuana.
Tamo was arrested after claiming the package and charged with violation of R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and R.A. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).
