A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental at 8:24 p.m. Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and its epicenter traced 169 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental with a depth of 54 kilometers.
Intensity III was felt in Glan, Malapatan and Alabel, Sarangani while Intensity II was in General Santos City; Koronadal City and Tampakan, South Cotabato and its Instrumental Intensity: Intensity IV – Malungon, Sarangani; Intensity II – General Santos City; Tupi, South Cotabato; Kiamba, Sarangani, and Intensity I – Gingoog City, Phivolcs said.
Phivolcs said it was not expected to cause any damage to property. No casualties were reported as a result of the tremor.
