4.2-magnitude quake hits Eastern Samar

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck Eastern Samar Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The quake, which occurred at 12:39 a.m., was tectonic in origin and was traced 36 kilometers southwest of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

The quake had a depth of 21 km, with the following registered intensities: Intensity IV – Guiuan, Eastern Samar

Phivolcs said the quake was also felt under the following instrumental intensities: Intensity II – Borongan City, Eastern Samar; Palo, Leyte

No aftershocks and damages are expected from the tremor.
