The move was made to help ease the heavy traffic along Marcos Highway and the Tubao-Asin-Nagalisan Road.

In a statement, the Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CRDRRMC) said the opening of Kennon Road will start on November 29 onwards every Friday from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday, until further notice, Kennon Road will only be open for those going up to Baguio, for vehicles weighing five tons and below.

Drivers are advised to only use the right side upward lane. The downward lane is for vehicles of the residents in the area only.

All vehicles going down from Baguio are checked to verify if those are carrying residents living along Kennon Road.

All vehicles must observe the 22 kilometer-per-hour speed limit as well as other traffic and parking rules, especially when stopping by the Lion’s Head.

People in Baguio who opt to visit the Lion’s Head should first secure a clearance at the police station located at the view deck in Camp 7.

The advisory said that in case of inclement weather or sudden thunderstorm where landslide is imminent in the area, Kennon Road will be immediately closed upon the recommendation of the Department of Public Works and Highways, the local government unit of Tuba, and the Tuba police.

The decision to partially open Kennon Road was made due to the anticipated number of guests for the 70th Fil-Am golf tournament at Camp John Hay and the Baguio Country Club, where around 1,800 players have already registered for the event.
