Worker slips, falls from scaffolding at SEAG venue

A construction worker was injured after falling from a scaffolding which he and his co-workers were dismantling at one of Southeast Asian Games venues in Malate, Manila on Monday before noon.

In a report at the Manila Police District which was released to media Tuesday, the victim was identified as Richard Delos Santos, 46, from Tondo, Manila.

Investigation showed that the incident happened at Rizal Memorial Stadium on Adriatico St. around 11:45 a.m. when Delos Santos accidentally fell from the scaffolding after he was believed to have slipped due to rain. He sustained leg injury.

Corporal Dennis Javier, radio operator of Malate Police Station, told Manila Bulletin that based on their updated report, the victim is still under observation as he is also complaining of headache.

In a GMA News report, the victim’s attending physician reportedly said that Delos Santos sustained a skull fracture and is suffering from a blood clot in his head.

In the same report, the victim’s wife said that her husband did not have enough sleep the night before the accident as he and his co-workers were rushing to dismantle the scaffolding before a scheduled event.

A fellow worker rushed the victim to Ospital ng Maynila following the incident, where he immediately underwent treatment.
