Buy-bust op nabs two with over P400,000 worth of shabu
Two alleged drug personalities included in the police’s drug watch list yielded about 60 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine) worth over P400,000 in a buy-bust operation at Barangay 120 in Caloocan City Sunday afternoon.
Arrested were Rommel Verdejo, alias “Boyet,” 26; and Jetlyn Josue, alias “Jet,” 23; both jobless and residents of Barangay 118, Caloocan City.
Elements of the Northern Police District (NPD) Drug Enforcement Unit and Special Operations Unit and Police Community Precinct-1 led the sting at around 2:30 p.m.
According to a report, the two were arrested after transacting a drug deal with a poseur buyer.
Twelve sachets of suspected shabu weighing 60 grams and worth about P408,000 were retrieved from the suspects.
Also recovered were the P75,000 marked money and some of the suspects’ personal belongings, including medicine and mobile phones.
The seized pieces of evidence were brought to the NPD Crime Laboratory Office for laboratory examination.
The arrested suspects will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Minka Klaudia Tiangco)
Man stabs drinking buddy at ‘binyag’ party turned bloody
A man was arrested by police for allegedly stabbed his drinking buddy at a christening reception in Legarda Street, Sampaloc, Manila on Sunday.
Police identified the suspect as John Marnie Salonga, 22, single and resident of Elcano Street, Tondo.
The victim was identified as Vergillo Palce Jr., 30, single, employee and resident of Legarda Street, Sampaloc. He is now recuperating at Mary Chiles Hospital after sustaining a single stab wound.
According to witness Analyn Asuncion, the victim and suspect were having a drinking session when the suspect stood up and said, “Hintayin ninyo ako, babalik ako (Wait for me, I shall return)” to the persons at the victim’s table.
A few moments later, at around 11:20 p.m., Salonga returned and stabbed the victim from behind at the reception held at Riverside Alley corner Legarda.
Elements of Lacson Police Community Precinct saw the suspect running and chased the suspect. Recovered from the suspect was the deformed bread knife he used to stab the victim.
Police said a case of frustrated murder will be filed against Salonga. (Erma Edera)
QC cops nab two drug dealers in sting op
Some P40,000 worth of shabu (methamphetamine) and an unlicensed firearm were seized from two drug dealers in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City.
Arrested in a drug sting conducted by the Quezon City Police District’s (QCPD) Masambong Police Station (PS-2) were Joan Tadena, 21, and Dexter Laping, 28, both residents of Barangay Pag-asa.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Rodrigo Soriano, commander of PS-2, said the duo’s arrest stemmed from a concerned citizen’s report about their illegal drug activities in the area.
Upon confirming the information, personnel of PS-2 Drug Enforcement Unit set a drug bust against the two suspects in front of No. 34 Alley 5, CMLI Compound in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa at about 5:20 p.m. Sunday.
A cop posed as a buyer and transacted with the suspects, resulting in their arrest.
Authorities confiscated from them seven sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P40,800 and the buy-bust money.
A caliber .38 revolver and ammunition were also seized from Laping’s possession while a mobile phone used in the drug deal was confiscated from Tadena.
The arrested suspects are now under police custody and will be facing drug-related charges. (Alexandria San Juan)
