BUTUAN CITY- Police operatives from Butuan City Police Office – Station 1 (BCPO-S1) together with the personnel from the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) launched over the weekend an entrapment operation that resulted in the rescue of four victims of child abuse at Barangay Villa Kananga, this city, police reported Monday.
Based on the testimony of one of the victims, the suspect enticed them to go to a fast-food restaurant in the downtown area of this city, and eventually convinced them to go with him to a lodging house.
“After the commission of the crime, they were given money,” BCPO-S4 report said.
After learning about the incident, the parents of the victim reported to the authorities who immediately entrapped the suspect using the child’s mobile phone.
Police operatives arrested the suspect, but his identity was temporarily withheld pending the arrest of his other companions.
Initially, apprehending police officers filed the case in court while the suspect was placed in police custody.
“This accomplishment showed what police-community partnership can do in arresting right away law breakers to give justice to the victims,” Caraga Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) Regional Director Br. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel, Jr. said.
“We appeal to the public to help us solve crimes by giving us information or report through our hotline numbers,” the region’s police chief said.
