Makati City fire guts 100 houses, leaves 200 families homeless

One million pesos’ worth of property was destroyed in a fire that hit a residential area in Makati City and rendered some 200 families homeless on Thursday afternoon.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said that the fire, which gutted around 100 houses, started on Zanzibar St. in Barangay Isidro at around 1:30 p.m. and immediately reached 4th alarm in just 20 minutes.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames around 4:16 p.m.

An eight-year-old boy identified as Mark Angelo Taulo was injured after sustaining abrasions, the BFP said.

Fire probers said that the fire allegedly started in the room of a certain Jerome Samosa, but the actual cause of the incident is still under investigation.
