The House of Representatives approved on third and final reading Monday afternoon the measure that seeks to extend the availability of some portions of the existing 2019 national budget up to the end of next year, as well as a pro-poor measure that’s been branded as Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s pet bill.

First to be given the Lower Chamber’s final nod was House Bill (HB) No.5437, or the proposed Act extending the availability of the 2019 appropriations for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses and Capital Outlays to December 31, 2020, amending for the purpose Section 65 of the General Provisions of Republic Act No.11260 (General Appropriations Act of 2019).

Some 192 House members voted in favor of passing HB No.5437, which was erstwhile referred to as House Joint Resolution (HJR) No.19. There were neither negative votes nor abstentions.

Next to be approved on third reading, this time via a vote line of 185-1-7 (yes-no-abstain), was HB No.5477 or the proposed Act establishing “Malasakit Centers” in all Department of Health (DOH) hospitals in the country and in the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), providing funds therefor and for other purposes.
