DTI-7 regional director Asteria Caberte has also warned all traders and retailers Wednesday of penalties that will be imposed on those caught selling and or distributing uncertified Christmas lights under RA-4109 or the Standards Law.

“We are now strictly monitoring the sale of Christmas lights in the market to protect the consumers from hazards posed by uncertified products such as electric shock and overheating that often lead to fire, damage to properties and even loss of lives,” Caberte said.

DTI has issued a list of certified manufacturers of Christmas lights that can be viewed at the DTI-Bureau of Philippines Standards (BPS) website: www.bps.dti.gov.ph.
