Farmer slain in pineapple plantation in Cavite

CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – A farmer was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon by still unidentified men at a pineapple plantation in Rodeo Hills Subdivision, Barangay Buck Estate, Alfonso, the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported on Thursday, November 14.

Senando Villela Hernandez, also the plantation caretaker, succumbed to a bullet wound in the neck at the Dr. Poblete Memorial Hospital in Alfonso.

The assailants fled after shooting Hernandez. A pursuit operation was conducted by a police team after the attack.

The Alfonso police withheld the other details of the incident for the meantime as investigation was ongoing.

The shooting happened at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Initial police investigation showed that four gun fires were heard as Hernandez was cutting grass at the plantation.

Neighbors found Hernandez’s body sprawled on the pineapple plants.

Relatives brought Hernandez to the hospital but he died while undergoing treatment.

Colonel Marlon R, Santos, Cavite PPO newly designated officer-in-charge ordered the local police to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident to identify the suspects and solve the case.

It was the first fatal shooting reported under the watch of Santos who was assigned as PPO OIC only last Monday.
