KIDAPAWAN CITY – Three people, including a minor, were wounded when a grenade exploded while they were celebrating a relative’s birthday in Aleosan, North Cotabato, around 4:45 p.m., Monday.

Aleosan municipal police chief, Captain Arvin Cambang, identified the victims as Eleuterio Macaya Cantomayir, 64; Randy Poja Cantomayor, 44; and Genie Cantomayor, 13, all residents of Barangay Bagolibas, Aleosan.

Cambang said the victims were having a party inside the Cantomayors’ house when a blue Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle with three unidentified suspects onboard stopped just outside the compound.

One of the riders threw a fragmentation grenade into the house which exploded in front of the victims. The suspects immediately fled towards Pikit Town.

Cambang said the victims were rushed to Aleosan District Hospital.

Authorities said land conflict is being eyes as one of the reasons for the grenade attack.
