A new set of modern public utility vehicles (PUVs) in Metro Manila were rolled out in Parañaque City on Thursday.

A total of 15 modern PUVs were launched by the Department of Transportation (DoTr) and will ply Nichols-Parañaque route starting November 11.

The new units, which will ply the route covering Magallanes, Mall of Asia (MOA) and Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), are equipped with air-conditioning units, CCTVs, Wi-Fi and GPS.

It was the second batch of Isuzu PUVs to be rolled out, following the previous 15 units which are now plying the Manila-Quezon City route.

In a statement, the transport department said that the new units were part of the agency’s fulfillment of the PUV modernization program (PUVMP).

DoTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, in a press briefing on Thursday, also lauded transport group Pasang Masda and its partners for their contributions to the progress of the PUVMP.

Meanwhile, Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez expressed his gratitude to the transport department through a Facebook post.

“Maraming maraming salamat po sa tuloy-tuloy na pagsuporta tungo sa pagiging progresibo ng ating lungsod ng Parañaque at bayang Pilipinas. Maraming salamat po at mabuhay po tayong lahat!” he said.

Parañaque City Administrator Fernando Soriano also expressed appreciation for the new modern PUVs which will ply in the city and other neighboring cities.

“Ako po’y natutuwa na pati yung kahabaan ng Sucat po natin, modernized na po tayong lahat,” he said.
