DOJ team formed to probe latest attack on radio broadcaster

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Thursday said that he would form a special investigating team (SIT) which will look into the killing of a radio broadcaster in Negros Oriental.

Guevarra, who chairs the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS), made the move following the ambush of Dindo Generoso, 67, who was slain at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
“We’ll create a special investigating team to look into this incident ASAP (as soon as possible),” he said.
“The SOJ (secretary of justice), as the chair of the PTFoMS created under AO (Administrative Order) No. 1, will issue the order creating the SIT,” he noted.
The Secretary added that “the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) may be tapped to assist as circumstances may warrant.”
Generoso is the anchor of the program “Konsencia sa Provincia” on DYEM FM BAI Radio.
Generoso was driving his car on his way to the radio station when he was shot allegedly by a lone gunman along Hibbard Avenue in Barangay Piapi.
Guevarra also formed a SIT to investigate the gun attack against Radio ni Juan station manager Benjie Caballero in Sultan Kudarat last October 30.
