Chen Long, alias Chen Chenglong, 32, was nabbed in a building in Makati City by operatives of the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

FSU chief Bobby Raquepo said they conducted dragnet operations after receiving information from Chinese authorities that the fugitive was hiding in the country.

Documents revealed that  Chen, together with a cohort, set up an unregistered investment company in Shandong province and duped their victims with more than 60 million RMB (P400 million).

Chen’s passport has been cancelled by the Chinese government, making him an undocumented alien.

Meanwhile, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente commended the efforts of the FSU in apprehending foreign fugitives in the country.

“The FSU has been doing a good job in ridding country of unwanted visitors in cooperation with our foreign counterparts,” said Morente.

Chen is now confined at the BI detention facilities in Bicutan, Taguig pending his deportation.
