Hugpong ng Pagbabago chairperson and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte welcomed the offer of relief goods and contributions for the earthquake victims in her city but would rather direct the assistance to people of Davao del Sur and North Cotabato.
In a statement issued yesterday afternoon, the local chief executive said donations will have to be re-directed to the two provinces where these are “need[ed] the most this time.”
“There have been numerous calls from individuals and establishments wanting to help Davao City following the series of earthquakes that also hit many towns in Southern and Central Mindanao,” the statement said.
“Since we do not have evacuees and victims can be taken cared of by the City Government of Davao, we shall direct donations to where they are needed the most this time — to the provinces of Davao del Sur and North Cotabato,” it added.
The donations may be delivered to the Task Force Davao Headquarters at the Sta. Ana Wharf which is headed by Col. Consolito Yecia.
The city government is rushing to organize relief distribution operations for Davao del Sur and North Cotabato.
