President Duterte has designated Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea as officer-in-charge when he embarks on an official visit to Thailand on November 1 to 4.
The President is scheduled to attend the 35th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit and related meetings this week.
“To ensure continuity of government service, it is necessary to designate an Officer-in-Charge to take care of the day-to-day operations in the Office of the President and oversee the general administration of the Executive Department,” the Special Order No. 1182 read.
In the order, Duterte authorized Medialdea to act for and on his behalf except on matters that the President is required by the Constitution to act in person while he is abroad.
All government departments and agencies have been directed to assist the Executive Secretary in the discharge of his functions.
“All acts of the Executive Secretary for and on behalf of the President pursuant to this Order shall be deemed acts of the President unless disapproved or reprobated by the President,” the order read.
The order, signed by the President last October 30, was released by the Palace Wednesday.
