Man killed in Malate fire

A still unidentified man was killed after he was trapped inside a burning house in Malate, Manila on Tuesday morning.

Initial investigation showed the fire broke out at around 6 a.m. in a residential area along Gen. Malvar Street, Malate, Manila on Oct. 29.

Reports said the fire razed two houses and an eatery on L. M. Guerrero Street, Manila.

According to Fire Inspector John Joseph Jalique of the Manila Fire District, a male resident was found dead after he was trapped inside one of the burned houses. He was reportedly last seen rushing back inside the house during the fire.

The fire reached first alarm at 6:09 a.m. It was declared under control at 6:51 a.m.

An estimated of P200, 000 worth of property was damaged by the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
