Vice President Leni Robredo appears to be sometimes “divorced from reality” amid her apparent confusing statements on issues, Malacañang said Monday.

Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo took a swipe at Robredo, saying he does not understand the pronouncements of the Vice President who has backpedalled on her supposed call to end the failed war on drugs.
“Kung minsan kasi si VP Leni parang divorced from reality kung mag-statement eh ,” Panelo said during a press conference in Malacañang.
“Kagaya ng sa war on drugs, sabi niya failure tapos kumambyo siya ngayon. Hindi naman ‘yun ang ibig niyang sabihin. Hindi ko maintindihan ano gusto niyang sabihin ,” he added.
Robredo earlier clarified that she had called for a review of the government’s drug war and not for the end of the campaign.
She said the government should tweak the anti-drug campaign if the strategies are not being properly implemented.
The Vice President made the clarification after a wire news agency reported she claimed it was time for Duterte to halt the failed drug war.
Panelo earlier hit back at Robredo for supposedly demonizing the President and the administration’s war on drugs. He also urged Robredo to detach herself from critics and detractors and instead hold more consultations with her constituents.
“We can only hope that VP Robredo does more active consultation with her Filipino constituencies instead of totally relying on the insights given by her advisers whose ideas contradict the realities on the ground,” Panelo said.
“She is better off without them. She should rely more on her motherly instincts and gut-feel as a lawyer,” he added.
