D-Link goes beyond better Wi-Fi with new EXO series

D-Link, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of home networking products, launches a new EXO series, a breakthrough from the traditional mesh starter kit solution that comes as a set. The first wave of the new EXO series includes smart mesh routers DIR-2660 (AC2600) and DIR-1360 (AC1300) and mesh extenders DRA-2060 (AC2000) and DRA-1360 (AC1300).

Users can choose between the DIR-2660 and DIR-1360 to pair with the DRA-2060 and/or DRA-1360 to form a whole-home Wi-Fi mesh coverage to ensure seamless roaming throughout the home. This setup allows users to enjoy uninterrupted video streaming, web surfing and more no matter where they are in their home.

The new EXO series is powered by the McAfee Secure Home Platform, which protects all smart devices such as Windows and Mac computers and iOS and Android mobile devices under the unlimited McAfee LiveSafe license protection.

Full Home Coverage

One of the most daunting issues faced by users today is seamless internet connectivity. The density of wireless devices combined with the obstructions caused by structures cause coverage interferences, which impact connectivity.

The new EXO router series is powered by dual-core processors to ensure sufficient processing power to meet the most demanding tasks such as 4K Ultra HD video streaming, online gaming and web surfing. When paired with the DRA-2060 and DRA-1360, it instantly forms a mesh network to provide total coverage, enabling users to move from one room to another without losing internet connection and ensuring they are connected to the strongest wireless signal for better user experience. Each EXO router can pair with up to eight units of the DRA series (wireless and wired) for its mesh solution. Each extender chooses the best path back to the EXO router, selects the best wireless channel and auto recovers Wi-Fi should any device experience technical problems.

Built-in Security Protection and Free Unlimited Security Licenses

Through a partnership with McAfee, each D-Link router comes with a five-year gateway license that provides real-time protection to all the devices connected behind the router, including passive devices such as contact sensors and motion sensors. The gateway license will constantly monitor traffic and alert users of any possibility of a security compromise. It also has the capability to inform users if there is an available firmware update or warn users when they forget to change the device's default common password, further enhancing protection.

The new D-Link EXO series provides a two-year unlimited full version of the McAfee LiveSafe client software to all active devices (Windows, Mac, iOS and Android) so that they are well-protected even when connecting to public hotspots or accidentally accessing malicious websites. Besides security control, the EXO routers offer schedule control and parental control, which helps parents keep their kids safe by limiting their online surfing activities.

Easy to Set Up and Protect

Configuring and setting up the EXO router and its extenders has never been so easy. To connect to the internet, simply download the D-Link Wi-Fi app and follow the easy step-by-step instructions to get started. The app also features firmware over-the-air (FOTA), which allows automatic firmware upgrades to ensure all devices have the latest firmware for any possible further enhancements.

The EXO series is now available at all official D-Link distributors.
