Four fishermen were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after their motorbanca capsized and went adrift for almost 12 hours at Carcar Point in Cebu on Sunday.
According to PCG, BRP Suluan (MRRV 4406) was conducting a routine patrol when they saw four persons struggling to stay onboard a sinking motorbanca calling for help in waters located at Carcar Point, Cebu.
Investigation showed the four fishermen were going to Bohol to buy some fish, but they encountered severe squall while in the middle of Cebu Strait at 5 a.m. on October 27.
They were identified as Eric Campo, 45; Hoven Gasalatan, 33; Jonas Padillo, 28; and Jaypee Gasalatan, 21– all residents of Barangay Tanke, Talisay, Cebu.
The PCG said the fishermen were safely transferred to the PCG Vessel and were brought to Pier 1 Aduana Wharf, Cebu City.
