Dr. Bong Dacera. City disaster risk reduction management officer, said at least 55 families lost their homes to the conflagration which occured while the city was still reeling off from the huge fire that almost razed the Gaisano mall here last October 16.

He said the fire developed into full blown conflagration due to strong winds coming from the sea. Fire fighters and fire trucks also found it difficult to enter the densely populated coastal village.
Officials had placed the damage at P500,000.

City Mayor Ronnel Rivera had dispatched a quick response team to provide relief assistance to the displaced residents who are temporarily housed at a covered court within the village.
