Road works in Metro Manila resume this weekend

Motorists were advised anew to take alternate routes as various road sections in Metro Manila will undergo repair works over the weekend.

Road reblocking and repair activities will resume starting 11 p.m. Friday on various portions of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), Circumferential Road-5 (C-5) and other parts of Quezon City.

Affected portions on EDSA, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), include the southbound direction from Camp Crame Gate to after Annapolis Street, beside MRT; before Estrella Street, outer lane; Panorama Building to Bansalangin Street, first lane from sidewalk; and at the northbound direction after Aurora Boulevard to New York Street, third lane from sidewalk; and near National Irrigation Administration (NIA) South Road, third lane from sidewalk.

National Capital Region Director Ador Canlas said that road works will also be undertaken at Katipunan Avenue/C-5 after C.P. Garcia Street, truck lane, northbound.

Other major roads that will undergo rehabilitation works include the southbound direction of Gregorio Araneta Avenue (G. Araneta) from T. Arguelles to Bayanin, first lane from sidewalk; at the eastbound direction of Quirino Highway from King Fisher Street to Belfast Road, inner lane; General Luis Street from Rebisco Road to SB Diversion Road; and Elliptical Road from after Maharlika Street, sixth lane from outer sidewalk; and at the northbound direction of A. Bonifacio Avenue from J. Pineda Street to Marvex Street, second lane from sidewalk.

Canlas reminded motorists to take alternate routes to avoid possible traffic congestion on affected areas.

The affected roads will be reopened to the public by 5 a.m. Monday.
