LINGAYEN, Pangasinan— Governor Amado I. Espino III reported Wednesday that all towns within the seven-kilometer radius from Barangay Baloling, Mapandan tested negative for African Swine Fever.

“Safe na po ang probinsya. Isa ring proof na safe na talaga dahil nag-random testing at walang lumabas na positive sa ASF,” said Gov. Espino.

Following the 1-7-10 protocol, some hogs from the towns and cities within the seven-kilometer radius, namely: Mangaldan, Manaoag, Urdaneta, San Jacinto, Laoac, Pozurrobio, and the rest of Mapandan are under surveillance, hogs were randomly tested and came out negative.

Likewise, the Gov said they are implementing strict monitoring of pigs in Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, San Fabian, Malasiqui, and Dagupan which covers the 10-kilometer radius.

On September 26, 71 hogs were confiscated and culled in Brgy Baloling after the blood samples of 30 of 60 hogs tested positive for ASF. Consequently, the culling operation on the swines within the one-kilometer radius of the ground zero followed on September 30.

Those hogs from a suspected farm in Pozurrobio tested by the Provincial Government of Pangasinan also came out negative.

Governor Espino assured that all the entry checkpoints to the province will still be utilized as long as there are recorded cases of ASF in the country.
