P35-million package of shabu found abandoned at NAIA 1

Bureau of Customs (BOC) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 intercepted, Saturday, 5.16 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, and estimated to be worth P35 Million.

Base on the record received by NAIA Customs District Collector Carmelita Talusan, the package containing the contraband arrived on a Philippine Airlines flight from Hanoi, Vietnam at 5:46 a.m.

According to Talusan, BOC examiner Krisllin Evangelista discovered an abandoned brown trolley bag at around 9 a.m. The package of shabu, wrapped in paper and plastic bags, was found inside the bag which bore a luggage tag under the name of Nazarene Obillo.

Authorities are now conducting an investigation on the abandoned package of shabu.
