In an interview with DZMM, DOH Undersecretary Eric Domingo said the list will include medicines for hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), chronic lung diseases, neonatal diseases, and major cancers.

Domingo said a group of experts, from doctors to economists, reviewed and evaluated DOH’s list.

Domingo also noted that presence of limited competition played a factor in the creation of the list.

DOH added that said the medicines included in the list were also chosen “on the basis of burden of disease in terms of magnitude and the severity of the conditions.”

Domingo said DOH is planning to finalize the list of medicines by October.
