South metro police rounds up 200 city ordinance violators

A total of 217 individuals were rounded up by police for violating various city ordinances in southern Metro Manila on Tuesday.

Twenty-four persons were collared for drinking in public, particularly in the city of Parañaque, according to the record of the Southern Police District (SPD).

Some 86 individuals were also accosted after they were caught smoking in public. Three were in Makati, eight in Pasay, 43 in Muntinlupa and 32 in Parañaque.

Meanwhile, 98 minors were turned over to police custody for violating the curfew. Parañaque had the most number of violators, with 49 minors violating the ordinance.

Other ordinances such as being half-naked in public were violated by six persons in southern metro cities, while illegal vending was violated by only two persons.

Police said that only 111 of the total accosted individuals were fined, 104 were given warning, while the rest was formally charged with their respective violations.
