During a media presentation at the Taguig City Police Headquarters, the policeman was identified as Chief Master Sergeant Rahid Sanguan, 46, member of the Philippine National Police Security and Protection Group (PNP-PSPG).

Arrested with him were his wife, Normina Sanguan, 41, Alfonso Obejas, 42, Ernie Legaspi, 32, Joseph Denjuan, 48, Ronnie Mark Sueño, 29 and Nasrodin Ayob, 39.

Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director, said the arrest of the seven suspects came after the Taguig City Police anti-narcotics unit conducted a buy-bust operation against Sanguan's wife, Normina, at their house on VP Cruz St. in Barangay Lower Bicutan.

Eleazar said the house was being used as a drug den and for pot sessions.

Eleazar said that the operation stemmed from information that there was a police officer "going to the area" and allegedly "supplying illegal drugs."

Sanguan and his wife were immediately collared after a transaction with a poseur-buyer around 6:15 p.m. The five other drug personalities were also arrested while allegedly t using illegal drugs.

The suspects, except the police officer, tested positive for drug use after being subjected to medical examination, Eleazar said.

Seized from them were six plastic sachets containing suspected shabu worth about P27,200; one plastic sachet containing suspected marijuana leaves worth about P2,100; and a P500 cash, which was used as marked money.

The arrested police will be charged with violation of "maintenance of drug den and conspiracy in selling of drugs," Eleazar said.

The six other suspects, meanwhile, would face charges for violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the metro top cop added.

Eleazar said that Sanguan's arrest is in "connection with the campaign of the PNP's 'internal cleansing.'"
