Iloilo City—Seven convicts of heinous crimes who were previously released under Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) Law have surrendered in Iloilo province.
Police Capt. Antonio Monreal Jr., spokesperson of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) said the seven convicts of heinous crimes were the first batch in Iloilo province to have surrendered after the ultimatum set by President Rodrigo Dutere.
Monreal said the first convict surrendered in Dingle town. He was convicted of murder and was released from Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Occidental Mindoro.
The six other convicts surrendered in Barotac Nuevo, Concepcion, Dueñas, and Tubungan towns.
Based on records, the IPPO monitored almost 20 convicts who availed the GCTA.
The IPPO is still waiting for convicts to surrender in Barotac Nuevo, Dumangas, Maasin, Santa Barbara, Sara, Dueñas, New Lucena, Miag-ao, Tubungan, San Enrique, Leganes, Anilao, Pavia, Pototan, San Rafael towns, and Passi City.
