A magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit Davao Occidental Sunday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The quake, which occurred at 9:49 p.m. was tectonic in origin and was traced 11 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos town, Davao Occidental.
The quake had a depth of 33 km, with the following registered intensities: Intensity IV - Glan, Alabel and Malapatan,Sarangani; Intensity III - Kiamba and Malungon, Sarangani; General Santos City; Tupi, South Cotabato; and Intensity II - Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur; Davao City; Koronadal City.
Phivolcs also said the quake was felt under the following instrumental intensities: Intensity IV - General Santos City; Alabel, Sarangani; Intensity III - Kiamba, Sarangani; Tupi, South Cotabato; and Intensity II - Kidapawan City
No aftershocks and damages are expected from the tremor.
