“Sisiputin niya bawat event. The very fact na wala siya dito today, [means] he’s not okay,” the youngest daughter of the assassinated Filipino statesman said in a speech.

The younger Aquino also addressed the guests present at the venue that “maybe” the former President needs them after she revealed that the past three years have been tough for his brother.

Among those who attended the mass were PNoy’s former cabinet secretaries, their relatives and supporters, and former Senators Mar Roxas and Antonio Trillanes IV.

“And he would never tell you na hindi siya okay. Because lahat yan, lahat ng bira, lahat ng bato, lahat ng kasinungalingan, lahat yan dinidibdib niya na tahimik lang,” she added.

The younger Aquino whose presence was very evident on social media also warned her brother’s critics that she will take up the cudgels for the former president despite admitting previously that they indeed have a strained relationship for quite a while now.

“But you are getting the sister na hindi tahimik. So sasabihin ko sa kanilang lahat, kung hindi niyo siya titigilan, ako ang makakatapat ninyo. So give the guy a break because he did you no harm,” she said.

On the same event, the actress took the opportunity to apologize to Roxas, his brother’s close friend and former ally, over some issues which she refused to share.

In fact, she invited the former senatorial candidate to join her while delivering her speech.

“I’m sorry for everything that happened. I can publicly say it nagselos ako because I felt Noy chose you over me,” she said to Roxas.

It would be recalled that during his 2019 senatorial campaign, the actress lashed out Roxas’ campaign manager Caloocan City 2nd district Representative Edgar Erice for saying that the senatorial candidate made a mistake by wearing yellow during his presidential campaign in 2016.

Former press undersecretary Abigail Valte confirmed that the former president is “down with the flu.”

She said in her status “. . . was able to talk to him [former president Benigno Aquino III] this afternoon . . . He thanks everyone for the concern. He was unable to attend today’s commemoration as he is down with the flu. He is recovering at home. It’s nothing serious . . .”
