The victim was identified by authorities as Police Maj. Emerson Palomares, 30, commanding officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP)-SAF in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City. Police arrested the suspect identified as Police Master Sergeant Sanwright Lobhoy, 41.

Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 4:40 p.m. at the Office of the Commanding Officer in Camp Bagong Diwa, Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.

Police said that the two had a heated exchange inside the office. Palomares apparently scolded Lobhoy which resulted in the shooting incident.
