Diez officially files complaint against QC Mall

Gretchen Diez officially filed her complaint against the Quezon City (QC) mall that allegedly discriminated her Friday at the Quezon City Hall.

According to a report by GMA News, Diez was accompanied by Quezon City Pride Council and her legal counsel to file the first complaint in violation of the Quezon City Gender Fair Ordinance against Araneta Center Inc., Starline Security Agency Inc., and the sanitation services agency contracted by the Araneta Center Inc.

Attorney Orlando Paolo Casimoro of the City Hall’s legal department received the complaint.

Transwoman Gretchen Diez was allegedly discriminated by the mall’s staff when she tried to use a woman’s comfort room in Farmer’s Plaza. She was then sent to the police for taking videos of the incident.

According to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, under the Gender Fair Ordinance, all forms of discrimination is prohibited, everyone is given protection, respect for their dignity and human rights, especially the members of the LGBTQ+ community.
