Guevarra welcomes lifestyle checks of cabinet secretaries

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Thursday said he welcomes lifestyle checks being conducted on Cabinet members including himself.

“That’s very good. I welcome that,” Guevarra told reporters.

“I guess that’s very healthy exercise and that will dispel any doubts about the integrity of the Cabinet members,” he added.

Recently, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Greco Belgica that two Cabinet secretaries are being investigated over allegations of corruption.

On the other hand, Belgica declined to identify the incumbent Cabinet officials pending the completion of the corruption probe that was triggered by complaints filed early this year.

Meanwhile, Guevarra defended several wealthy members of the Cabinet.

“Let me tell you that some of these Cabinet members are actually wealthy even before they joined the government service,” he explained.

“Kaya huwag nating ipagtaka kung bakit anlaki ng kanilang networth (So let us not doubt their huge networth). They are already wealthy before they joined the government,” he reiterated.
