DAVAO CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 will strictly implement a “one-strike policy” on illegal gambling for all its police units in the region.
PRO 11 regional director, Brig. Gen Marcelo Morales warned all station commanders that those who will ignore or fail to act on rampant illegal gambling operations in their areas will be relieved from their posts immediately.
Morales said, under the one-strike policy, the station commander will be immediately removed from his or her post if the crackdown by the regional operations group or from national headquarters against illegal gambling in their area is successful.
“Immediately, I will relieve them. Our Chief PNP is very serious in its campaign on cleansing the organization,” he said
The region’s top cop added if three station commanders or chief of police failed to act on it, the Provincial or City Police Directors will also be relieved from their posts.
” If they fail to stop, whatever their reasons are, then they must leave their post because we do not want the people to think that illegal gambling is perennial because of this imputation of ‘culture of corruption’ in the police force,” Morales stressed.
